Antoine Griezmann is raising drivers’ awareness of the risk of drowsiness behind the wheel across the entire VINCI Autoroutes motorway network as part of the #3500LIVES campaign launched by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile), in partnership with JCDecaux.
Even though drowsiness behind the wheel is the number one cause of motorway fatalities, almost three out of four (74%) European drivers fail to comply with the recommendation to take a break every two hours on a long trip. On the eve of the holiday departures, the VINCI Autoroutes Foundation for responsible driving and the FIA, and its affiliated clubs, are joining forces for a vast campaign to be run all summer long aimed at preventing the risk of drowsiness at the wheel. It is being fronted by Antoine Griezmann and presented in French and English across all rest areas on the VINCI Autoroutes network. Awareness of the risk of sending texts while driving, fronted by Pharrell Williams, and the recommendation to use appropriate child seats, fronted by Michelle Yeoh, are part of the same campaign that will be promoted on 870 billboards on over 300 rest areas.
From 7 July to 31 August 2017, “Faites une pause en cas de fatigue / Rest when you’re tired”, the safety message fronted by Antoine Griezmann as part of a global road safety campaign #3500LIVES will be displayed on billboards in French and English across the entire VINCI Autoroutes network. The forward of the French and Atlético de Madrid football teams reminds drivers of the importance of taking a regular break to prevent drowsiness at the wheel because they only stop on average after three hours and 14 minutes of driving instead of the recommended two hours.
To help drivers adopt this good practice, the VINCI Autoroutes foundation will be providing them with “siesta areas” every weekend during summer to encourage this restorative practice.
